Artefact 5
In my fifth artefact I decided to look at familiarity of structure and surroundings. This was a key aspect that appeared in research document. It was based on the theory that people believe something to be real by cross referencing it with prior knowledge from media and personal experience.
To test the idea of how familiarity of structures and surrounding effects people’s perception on reality, I created a level in Unreal Editor. I made a level of a derelict building and added five objects at random which included architectural features as well. The reasoning behind me choosing this environment was due to the fact that most people already have a preconception of how a derelict building should appear based on prior knowledge and therefore would be able to pick out features that do not fit in with their ideal of the place.
